In recent years, a new generation of Chinese violin makers has emerged and set a higher standard of violin making. These luthiers are trained by the violin master-makers of the Western world and have access to some of the world's best tonewoods available from the untapped forests in China. The outcome is astonishingly high quality and beautiful violins at great prices.

The Marquis MV-300 is truly a superb violin. The top is carved from well-aged and pronounced spruce. The back is of very deeply configured, seasoned maple, with sides, neck, and scroll to match. This combination of fine tonewoods and workmanship produces tonal qualities that are superbly harmonious and pleasing — very desirable traits for orchestral and chamber ensembles. When used for solo performances, the sound projection is powerful and unwavering.
